Hello:
I am trying to download the "Jesus Freak" boot screen, and after clicking the "I agree" disclaimer, i am allowed to download a file called "4327Kernel". This is in .RAR format. Once I decompress it, i get a file called "Kernel1.exe". When I click on it, i get an error message that says this program can not be run in Win32 mode. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You need to replace the file called 'ntsokrnl.exe' inside your System32 folder with the 'Kernel1.exe' file you downloaded.

or...

Use StyleXP to apply the boot screen for you?

StyleXP Can be Downloaded Here:

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. but I need your assistance regarding the "kernel1.exe" file. I'm also using the LogonUIBootRandomizer for my computer, but just 2days ago, my AV program was going crazy!!! It detected some kind of virus called :

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Shutdowner.BD [TR/Shutdowner.BD]'
detected in file 'C:\boot.ini

I've searched many forums and all of them tell me that it has something to do with my boot software:

The boot.ini file I have is:

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /KERNEL=kernel1.exe
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Original)" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

They told me that the source of my problem is the "kernel1.exe" which I did a Google on is:

Audit My PC

Test My Firewall

Is there some kind of fix for this? I wanna keep using LogonUIBootRandomizer, but I can't if it's a security risk.

Just edit your c:\boot.ini file in notpad and remove the /KERNEL=kernel1.exe part. This is optional and just allows for a custom bootscreen. Save the file and reboot. Then run a virus checker and spyware checker to clean things up.

We recommend you use LogonUIBootRandomizer or Tuneup Utilities 2007 to load custom bootscreens. They are the safest method as they don't replace your kernel (.exe). They just pull out and replace the bitmap (image) so no issues.
