Well styleXP should have patched your uxtheme.dll file upon install. You have to then reboot, as I recall, for the changes to take effect. But if for some reason when you apply a theme or visual style only the background changes (not the taskbar or anything else), that's usually an indication that the patch failed, or Windows found a backup copy somewhere and overwrote the patched copy with a backup (it's a protected operating system file so it does that).

So if it doesn't work, try patching your uxtheme.dll file separately using Multipatcher, or replace your uxtheme.dll file manually with one that is already patched per our instructions here.

good morning mr. hamesh
I have been hesitant in installing "style xp" because of my personal preferences.
i dont like third party software doing things to my machine thst im not aware of or doing what i can do manually
BUT.......it seems for whatever the reason that i have a problem installing some themes and v.s.
can you give me some insight into this program inre: himem info, how much resorse it uses, problems with program , etc
i would like to give it a test run so any info you can give will be appreciated
tnx

netscape has a built in download manager that should solve that little problem

yes but netscrape is aol which is mickysoft now.

Firefox would be the better alternative.

:) Hi I'm very new to all of this kinda downloading themes I read all the directions on how to patch and I downloaded the StarSkin dealy I'm now trying to download more themes but I can't seem to get the themes on the theme menu. I tryed to patch the theme dealy and when I searched for the uxtheme.dl_ files it said there were no files found. I'm so confuzzled it's not even funny. Could anyone please tell me what to do  oh BTW this is a really cool site and the members who post seem nice too :D .

if you are trying to patch the theme .dll it is located in your windows system32 folder ..c/windows/system32
go directly to it
but then if the files sre not packaged correctly which most are not you have to add folders and change names , can be a pain......i dont like stylexp at all but it works and is easy to use , just download style xp

oopsy !!! silly me
if you are going to use .dll patch again its in folder i stated before
......but be careful to back up old dll by renaming it to uxtheme.dll.old and leave it where it is
then copy the patched .dll to the same directory

The downloads work fine for me.  What happens when you click the download link?  When you click the 'I Agree - Download Now' button, the legal notice goes away revealing the real download link.  Says >> CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD << in all caps.

I get the following screen

Board Message, Go Back
